Convert windows server 2016 datacenter evaluation to full free download. How to Convert (Upgrade) Windows Server 2019/2016 Evaluation to Full Version?
So I am just looking for some answers or experiences regarding using a VL Key to convert an evaluation to a full edition of Windows Server. I cannot find a definite answer from Microsoft regarding this. Is this possible? Has anyone tried using a VL key to convert an eval to a full version. You can only convert the windows server evaluations to full using a retail product key.
For volume keys you'll need to logon to volume center and download volume distribution media. Regards, Dave Patrick At any time after installing Windows Server, you can freely convert it between a retail version, a volume-licensed version, or an OEM version. The edition remains the same during this conversion. If you are starting with an evaluation version, convert it to the retail version first, and then you can inter-convert as described here.

Why add this confusion here? Most users do not have spare retail licenses laying around for this purpose. So there is no way to use the VL keys to convert an eval to a full version?
Is there a reason why that is? Thank you for this link. Do you have a similar link for Windows Server ? I speak to quite a few resellers and end customers who have installs of the eval and now need to convert these to full product. Also, is there any particular reason why they don't allow the same thing with volume licensing? This would make things a lot easier for those of us out here speaking with support techs and admins.
Just give them core licenses to meet their configuration and away they go. I understand the nature of e valuations, I wish all the support people who start using these for production understood what evaluations are for. It is not supported to go from Eval to Volume licensing it is an untested scenario , it is supported to go from Eval to Retail and from Eval to OEM licensing this includes Windows Server Office Office Exchange Server.
